From the PC-DCE Service Panel, you can review general PC-DCE service status, start and stop PC-DCE, and change the PC-DCE service startup configuration. You can also test individual PC-DCE services and display their status.
In the upper left corner of the Service Panel, the name of the current cell is displayed.
The Service/Status window lists all the DCE services configured on your system and displays their current operational status (Running or Stopped). Service daemons include:
· DCE Daemon
· DCE CDS Advertiser
· DCE Security Service (server configuration only)
· DCE Cell Directory Service (server configuration only)
· DCE Global Directory Agent (server configuration only)
· DCE Distributed Time Service (server configuration only, and optional for full client configuration)
· Name Service Interface Daemon
If the Services window displays the message No Local Service Configured, the system is configured as a lightweight DCE client, which runs RPC services only.

The PC-DCE Service Panel also includes the following buttons for management:
· Refresh — Updates the displayed status of all the DCE services configured on your system.
· Restart All — Restarts all DCE services configured on your system. See Restarting DCE Services.
· Start/Stop DCE — Toggles on and off all DCE services configured on your system. See Stopping DCE Services.
· Configure — Starts the PC-DCE Configuration program. For information about configuring PC-DCE, refer to the online help accessible from the Configuration panel.
· Test — Verifies that the selected service is operating properly. First click on an entry in the list window to select the service to test.
· Restart — Restarts a selected service. First click on an entry in the list window to select the service to restart. See Restarting DCE Services.
· About — Displays version information for binaries and DLLs in this PC-DCE release.
