How Are ACLs Interpreted?

ACLs are interpreted by software on the application server for the application that manages the object. When a request for access to an object is received, the application server takes the authentication information supplied on behalf of the requesting user and compares it to the ACL for the requested object or resource. The server then indicates whether the requesting user is or is not allowed the requested access to the resource. Note that the order of entries displayed by the Visual DCE ACL Editor is the same order that is used when an application determines user access.
