Adding a User

The user ACL entry type establishes permissions for a specific user in the home cell or in another (foreign) cell, unless the user is previously named in ACL entries of type owner. You must identify the user by supplying a user name in the dialog box.

image\acl_0022_wmf.gif To add a user to the active ACL:

1. Click image\acl_0023.gif , or pull down the Add Entries menu and choose Add User ...

The Add User dialog box appears.

2. Enter the user's cell name. This field defaults to the ACL's home cell; change it if you want to specify another cell.

3. Enter the user's name in the User Name field. If the user name is not in the Registry specified in the Cell field, an error message is displayed after you click OK.

4. Click the permissions you wish to grant.

To grant multiple permissions click the permissions you want in the Permissions box. A checkmark appears next to each selected permission. To deselect a permission, click the selected permissions.

For information on what each permission means, click the image\acl_0024.gifbutton.

5. When you are satisfied with how the permissions are set, click OK.

The dialog box is dismissed. The user name, cell name, and the permissions you granted are now listed in the ACL. Notice that the image\acl_0025.gif icon appears next to the user name to indicate that this is a user entry.
